Dilworth
Dilworth is Charlotte's first-ever suburb, established in 1891, and remains one of the city's most sought-after neighborhoods for buyers. Located about two miles from Uptown, it offers tree-lined streets, historic Craftsman homes, park access, and a median home value of around $685K–$764K in early 2026.
Dilworth has one of the clearest origin stories of any neighborhood in Charlotte. In 1891, developer Edward Dilworth Latta built the city's first electric streetcar line and ran it from downtown to a new planned community two miles south. He envisioned a mixed-use neighborhood of beautiful homes, accessible parks, and walkable streets. More than 130 years later, that vision is still what Dilworth looks like — and it's a significant part of why the neighborhood has never stopped being desirable.
